At present, the Mi-171 helicopter is manufactured in transport, passenger, search-and-rescue, fire-fighting, medevac, VIP and 'Ambulance' versions.

One of the main advantages of Mi-171 transport helicopter is its multifunctionality. The helicopter can be easily converted from transport version into search-and- rescue, fire-fighting, medevac and 'Ambulance' versions during pre-flight preparation. This enables the helicopter to perform a wide range of tasks:

• transportation of a cargo of up to 4000 kg inside cargo cabin;
• transportation of a cargo of up to 4000 kg on the external load sling;
• transportation of up to 12 stretcher cases accompanied by medical personnel;
• works involving lifting, loading and unloading cargoes in flight;
• search-and-rescue missions; - fire-fighting operations.

Multi-purpose Mi-171 helicopter, having retained advantages of its famous predecessor, Mi-8, simplicity, reliability, operational unpretentiousness has acquired advanced flight-and-technical performance, new possibilities of application.
